Jada McLean is about to get married in nine days, when she walks in on her fiancé in a little more than a compromising position. Days later, she’s on a trip that she intends to be relaxing and a prelude to her fresh start, when she runs into the rude, obnoxious, but gorgeous Jonathan Kole.
Jonathan Kole is San Francisco’s newest District Attorney. When he finds himself deeply attracted to a stunning beauty, he has no idea that she’s about to get into BIG trouble with the law—and he’ll be the one presiding over her trial. To make matters worse, his father is the lawyer representing her in the high-profile case.
When a series of events force them together over New Year’s weekend, Jonathan’s feelings and ethics will come into question, while Jada comes to terms with the fact that she is falling for the man that will be responsible for attempting to put her behind bars… Little do they know, they're both about to fall into a whirlwind so deep, it will send both their lives spiraling out of control.
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.
This book totally caught me off guard, wasn't at all I expected this had drama, suspense, an awesome set of characters and an even better story line.
Right from the get go I loved Jade she own's her own business has everything about her life all mapped out about to get married until one day she gets home early and finds her fiancee and her best friend banging on her desk. She kicks them out starts making a list for her new life and runs off to Lake Tahoe.
Here we meet god damn sexy Jonathan Kole. Rude, arrogant, wealthy and he is the District Attorney. They don't get along from there very first meeting she is the only one to stand up to him, which surprises him and he likes it. She comes back from her little holiday and finds he ex fiancee dead, murdered and she is suspect #1.
From here things get interesting, Jade and Jonathon's relationship grows slowly things keep getting piled on top of poor Jade. One thing I found with this book was it is long, I don't think it needed to be that long it could have wrapped up a few hundred pages earlier and sometimes it felt like you were nearly finished the way things were going only to find out you still had a long way to go. That didn't mean I didn't like it, I actually really enjoyed it even loved it, I loved Jade and Jonathon watching there relationship turn from fighting, to tolerating each other and then love, the sex was hot Jonathan is so god damn sexy it was intense.
You try guessing what is going to happen at the end who is framing Jade and killing people off and trying to kill and extort from her and there are some big surprises you will have no idea and that's what I liked, it wasn't predictable it keeps you on the edge of your seat flipping the page over because you need to know what is going down next and you won't be disappointed.
